Now that I am two weeks into the BBG workout, (which I posted about last week), I have changed my morning routine slightly. Disclaimer before I start, I am in no way an expert in this field. Every person is different, every body type is different; however, this is what has been working for me and my life style.

I use to always skip breakfast. I never was a big eater in the morning. Lunch was where it was at for me! I’ve learned that my body had zero energy by not having at least a little something in the morning.

As soon as I wake up, I always have a large cup of coffee. My cup of coffee makes me human and is always enjoyed with some blog reading or pod casts! It is “my” time, and, very therapeutic.

After this I will usually workout. I have to workout first thing in the morning or I never will get to it. I can never workout on a completely empty stomach, or a full stomach. I will usually have a piece of 7 grain toast with almond butter, a banana, or my personal favorite, an RX Bar to give me fuel for my workouts.

After my workout I have my “green shake.” (in quotations because i love blueberries so much that my green shake ends up turning into a dark dark purple lol!) I’ve tried many recipes and to be honest, I fused a bunch together to create one that i LOVE drinking. Let’s be real, a green smoothie never looks appetizing, so I needed to make one that doesn’t taste as funky as it looks!

I do change it up with the fruits I use, but in general, my guideline is to pick:

  • An unsweetened liquid
  • Handful of a greens
  • Any fruits you like
  • Some sort of “supercharge” or “energy booster.” 

The recipe I have been using the last two weeks is:

  • 1 cup of Silk’s Unsweetened Almond Coconut Milk
  • 1 cup of Frozen Nature’s Promise Cut leaf Spinach
  • 1 cup of Frozen Nature’s Promise Blueberries
  • 1/4 cup of Organic Shredded Coconut
  • 1/4 cup of Nature’s Promise Low fat Vanilla Yogurt
  • Handful of Chia seeds
  • Green Super Food

I love that I get everything my body needs right in the AM, especially because I am not always the healthiest eater in the afternoon!
